"McCann fury as new libel cop case begins "

The Daily Star today laments how the poor McCanns are furious that so much money has been raised by "Internet trolls," to help Gonçalo Amaral launch his appeal against the decision of a civil court to award the McCanns a huge amount of money in damages against him. For a start, nothing new there: the McCanns seem to have been furious on quite a few occasions since their daughter disappeared into thin air.

So, what has the daily fish and chip wrapper said?

"They could help to strip the couple of £357,000 they hope to use to find her."
Now, is that the money they were hoping to get out of Gonçalo or the amount that they could have to pay in legal fees out of their handy pot of cash, the Find Madeleine Fund should Gonçalo succeed with his appeal?

"Ex-police chief Goncalo Amaral, 56, has been flooded with nearly £50,000 in public donations since he lost a libel hearing against Kate and Gerry McCann six months ago." Now that conjures up a strange picture. Gonçalo has been been "flooded." What with? A funnel? No, silly Mr Lawton, the account has been flooded! And since you have given the fund such good publicity, it now stands at over £50,000 and is rising steadily.

"The GoFundMe webpage donors include trolls who have abused the McCanns online." So, Jerry Lawton has been going through the list of donors and can identify people who have supposedly "abused the McCanns online"? Are those the people who have been asking awkward questions like, "Where is the proof of abduction?" Maybe he could ask the McCanns for a copy of the dossier that "the family" gave to the police, the one that got into the hands of Martin Brunt, who used it to doorstep Brenda Leyland. I doubt he'll actually want to read the sickeningly abusive messages to Brenda Leyland that were posted on Twitter by supporters of Kate and Gerry. Mr Lawton has firmly set himself on the side of those who are never going to accept any responsibility for the loss of their daughter and who instead are ready to sue anyone who contradicts their version of events.

"A friend of the couple admitted they were “exasperated” by the appeal and the source of its funding." Well, how awful for them that Gonçalo is able to exercise his legal right of appeal. And the source of its funding? The money donated to Gonçalo's defence fund will be used for the stated purpose. The money the McCanns are using to sue Gonçalo has come from the money donated by the public to help the search for Madeleine. So, the McCanns making a statement about the source of funding seems rather hypocritical to say the least.

"It seems strange indeed these people may be indirectly able to influence civil court proceedings. Kate and Gerry are exasperated.” Yes, I imagine that they are rather exasperated. They must have thought they had Gonçalo by the proverbial short and curlies since they have had his assets frozen. Thousands of people donating to the appeal fund have proved them wrong and left them "exasperated." Those who have given to the fund will not, of course, influence civil court proceedings, either directly or indirectly. What they are influencing is whether or not a Portuguese citizen is able to exercise his rights in law, a right the McCanns would take from him if they could.

May justice prevail for Dr Amaral and for Madeleine McCann and all those people like Brenda Leyland. They, and not Kate and Gerry, are the victims of this saga.

McCanns - Their Best Moments.

...........................
Video uploaded to YouTube by Claudia7929. An excellent video Claudia!

The video highlights some of the most significant moments of the Maddie case. Here are a few I have selected for special attention:

0.00 - 0.16: Eddie the 'cadaver dog,' alerting to cadaver odour around the McCanns' vehicle they hired three weeks after Madeleine disappeared. Martin Grime points out that Eddie can smell the odour emanating from around the door seals.

0.19 - 0.30: Keela, the CSI dog, who is trained to detect traces of human blood, in the boot of the hired car, demonstrating her 'passive alert,' signal by becoming still with her nose pointing to the area where she has detected the odour.

0.31 - 0.43: Eddie investigating clothing that was taken from the McCanns' rented villa, alerting to specific items: Kate McCann's checked trousers; a white top belonging to Kate McCann; a child's red T shirt.

0.45 - 1.04: Eddie in apartment 5A, examining the McCanns' wardrobe, giving his barking alert which would indicate the presence of cadaver odour. Eddie will also alert to human blood, but since Keela did not alert in this area, it can be assumed that Eddie was alerting to cadaver odour.

1.05 - 1.42: Eddie in the lounge/dining area of apartment 5A. Martin Grime seems to be trying to draw Eddie's attention to the curtains behind the sofa, but Eddie appears to be desperate to get behind the sofa. He is then seen running in and out and barking furiously.

1.42 - 2.04: Keela's 'passive alert,' to the possible presence of human blood behind the sofa.

2.20 - 2.40: Eddie running around the sink unit in the McCanns' rented accommodation, seen sniffing round the cupboard doors and jumping up at the sink. He is detecting something there and Madeleine's soft toy, Cuddle Cat is revealed hidden in the cupboard.

5.00 - 5.16: Sandra Felgueiras asks the McCanns if they gave their children, 'something like Calpol to help them sleep.' Gerry McCann states that they are not going to comment, 'but there is absolutely no way we used any sedative drugs...' at which point Gerry McCann makes one of the best known gestures that indicate lying: he pulls at his ear lobe.

6.08 - 6.20: Kate McCann talking about Madeleine's having asked why they did not come when she and Sean were crying. Kate McCann dismisses Madeleine's comment as 'a passing remark.' How could any mother dismiss her child's question about being alone and crying and no one coming as 'a passing remark.'?

7.20 - 7.40: Kate McCann talking about the small window of opportunity the abductor had to take Madeleine. She looks like she's having trouble getting her mouth under control. Too much free vino?

7.40 - 8.15: The McCanns are asked about returning to Praia da Luz to participate in a reconstruction of the events surrounding their daughter's disappearance. Gerry McCann comments that he would be concerned about the world-wide media attention and also wonders 'what additional information would be gained from such a process.' Well, it might have served to highlight the apparent inconsistencies in witness statements given by Kate and Gerry and their merry band of holiday mates.

Also, if the Madeleine had been abducted and the McCanns were desperate to find witnesses, then the world-wide media attention had the potential to jog a few memories of people who were in the area at the time, but I think the possibility of the inconsistencies showing up was much more important to them.

8.15 - 9.11: Jane Hill of the BBC asks Kate McCann if she felt like getting out there and searching for her daughter when some residents of Praia da Luz had taken a week off work to search the area. Kate McCann sighs, tuts, takes her time to answer and then really evades the question by talking about how hard they were working and how they were almost totally non-functioning in the first 48 hours.

So, after those first 48 hours, did she get out there and help with the search? No! The McCanns addressed the world's media, they walked along the beach holding hands and I guess they were very busy, as Kate McCann says, 'doing other things.' Just like they must have been busy doing other things when Madeleine found herself alone and crying and no one came, the McCanns were too busy doing other things to get themselves out there and physically search for her.

The McCanns should feel ashamed of some of the things they didn't do in the supposed search for their daughter: no search in those first few days when others blistered their feet in the hunt; no involvement in a reconstruction; Kate McCann's not answering those 48 questions. I'm sure there are many more examples, but those will do for now. Shame on you Kate and Gerry McCann, that you should call yourselves responsible parents. Shame on you.

Madeleine McCann: once more with Gerry's blue sports bag!

Thanks to a few helpful folks, who suggested where I might find the appropriate photos, I now have the photo from the PJ files of the inside of a wardrobe in apartment 5A, the McCanns' holiday apartment in Praia da Luz. This is one of the images from the PJ's first visit immediately after Madeleine disappeared. As you can see, there is a rather large holdall, which could be described as a sports bag, sitting on one of the shelves.

The photo is from the following section of the PJ files:

10VOLUME_Xa_Page_2564

And is reproduced here from Pamalam's web site:

Gerry McCann's Blogs

So, we know that a bag of the relevant size and description did exist, whatever the McCanns, their spokesperson or a source close to the family might say. Gerry McCann never owned such a bag? Well, Gerry, did that one take up residence in your wardrobe when you weren't looking? Someone put that bag there and someone removed it. So, who did? And Gerry, I'm not going to ask the dogs!

SOS Madeleine McCann: another, "substantial donation," to the Madeleine fund.

McCann vs "The Evening Standard."

The British newspaper, "The Evening Standard," has just swelled the already long list of media in the UK who have been obliged to offer their apologies to Madeleine McCann's parents.

The announcement of this about-face by, "The Evening Standard," was made on the same day as Maddie's father told the Portuguese media that he wished to, "move forward and not back,"and that he had no intention of taking legal action against the media.

To the Portuguese journalists Gerry McCann stated that he wished to, "make totally clear that what happened in the past, was finished," claiming, according to him, to focus, "on what could be done to continue the search."

"That's our priority and that has always been. However, these things (possible legal actions) are simply not important at this time," Gerry Mccann stated.

In spite of Madeleine McCann's father's statements, that the couple were not concerned with possible legal action against the media, the British newspaper was obliged to make, "a substantial donation," to the fund created after Maddie's disappearance, and to, "publish announcements in foreign editions of another newspaper in our group, the Daily Mail, requesting information which might lead to finding Madeleine."

In its online edition, the newspaper, "The Evening Standard," writes that during the last months of 2007, "like a large part of the media," it published various articles which, "could be understood as suggesting that Kate and Gerry McCann might be involved in Madeleine's disappearance."

"We regret this fact and we wish to clarify, to avoid any doubt, that we totally accept that there is no proof to suggest that Kate and Gerry were involved in their daughter's disappearance," writes the newspaper.

An editorial source at the daily, contacted by SMM, confirmed that this announcement is the result of an agreement between the publication and lawyers for the couple in order to avoid a protracted action in the courts where, "given the McCanns' enormous political and legal support, there would be very little chance of success." The same source further states that this announcement, "has changed nothing of the view various journalists have about the case and the possible responsibility of the couple," but that in future, "it will be impossible to publish a single line that might implicate the couple."

In its online edition, the Evening Standard further writes that there, "is no evidence that Madeleine has come to any harm," thus ignoring all the evidence, and honest logic of this kind of case, that indicates that the little British girl will be dead.

Ex-KGB at the head of the Evening Standard.

In the next few days, the millionaire and former KGB agent, Alexandre Lebedev, could become the new owner of the Evening Standard, which could see a hypothetical change in the editorial policy of the newspaper. At least, this is what many journalists are expecting, unhappy with the direction followed by the newspaper and worried about its financial situation.

If the sale is confirmed, the former spy will be the first Russian to become majority owner of a major British newspaper: according to the terms of the sale agreement, Lebedev will hold 76% of the newspaper, the remaining 24% remaining the property of the Daily Mirror & General Trust, the current owner.

This is not the first time a major English daily has become the property of foreigners. An Australian bought The Times, The Sun and the News of The World, and a Canadian had, at one time, been the owner of The Telegraph.

The McCann Case: what is being hidden from us?

http://www.kidnapping.be/maddie/maddie.html

11,000 pages of the case file of the, "Maddie case," have been handed over to the press. Since that day, certain members of the British press have been working away at inventing leads, which have already been followed up, trying to depict the Portuguese as incompetent in the eyes of the public for not having followed up all the leads. Is this hunt for the sensational fair or are we being prepared for something else? Something more pernicious? To properly understand our words, you need to know that the three, "arguidos," have until September 20th to ask the police to reopen the investigation. Needless to say, no parent, having been the victim of child abduction, would think of asking the police to stop their investigations! I think we can say, without fear of going wrong that....
  • Martin Provencher - whose daughter, Cédrika, was abducted on July 31 2007,
  • Piera - whose daughter, Denise, was abducted on September 1st 2004,
  • Ithaisa - whose son, Yeremi, was abducted on March 10th 2007,
....would completely fall apart if they were to learn that the police were not continuing with the investigation. But it seems that in the case of the McCann parents, things are different. The parents have already stated that the Portuguese police had done all they could, implying that they were not going to ask the police to continue looking into what had happened!! That shocking decision, if it is accurate - and there is every reason to believe it is - can thus be presented to the public at the risk of shocking them and at the risk of the parents definitely losing all credibility. Also, we are witnessing a media hype of all the leads deemed not to have been followed up by the Portuguese PJ. Clarence Mitchell, is, by turns, astonished and outraged at each new false lead brought up by the press, sending off on the trail of all these false suspects, their famous, "super detectives," who waste their time on leads which they know full well lead nowhere.

The manipulation is to make the public believe that their investigators are more efficient and more reliable that the Portuguese
PJ and that that is why the parents are not asking the PJ to continue their investigation but OK for their super-efficient detectives, who are, of course, super-pros, much more efficient than the police. It was said that the new detectives, hired by the parents, let the Belgian police view videos of a young girl resembling Madeleine. That is absolutely false! The McCanns' sleuths learned of the case from the press! No more! They have absolutely nothing to do with this case. All other statements are lies!

I am even going to reveal a secret that no one knows: on the day that the, "Sun," disclosed the videos on its site, the Belgian police had already been advised that the child had been found and was not Madeleine!! So, the detectives lied to their employers, who must indeed be naive. In that case, they should be sacked. It is not normal to keep spending money on detectives who lie, instead of investing in the search for Madeleine. Or else, these words have no other purpose than to pull the wool over the eyes of the public to make them believe that the new detectives are better than the police, thus preparing the public for what we dread: the parents have no intention of asking the PJ to continue searching!!!!

If our judgment is sound, the parents will not be asking the police to continue the enquiry. We wait anxiously for September 20th in the hope that we are wrong. But if our judgment is sound...poor Madeleine. After September 20th, the case file will be able to be reopened by anybody, you or me, who brings new elements to the case. Like the photos for example....

But for the time being, in following up leads already placed under the microscope, publishing e-fit sketches of suspects, who were mostly identified and questioned ages ago, spending so much energy manipulating the media, we have the right to say that in doing so, you are no nearer to finding Madeleine! I recall that the goal was always to find Madeleine (alive or not) not to spend money and energy on leads where the results are already in the case file. Why waste all this time on spent leads instead of searching for Madeleine, because for some time the talk has not been about finding Madeleine, but about protecting the McCanns or about silencing anyone who might speak badly of the parents!! What wasted energy in doing these things, hiring people to search out the most insignificant blog site which spoke badly of the parents....what expense, but Madeleine, what becomes of her in all this?

I can tell you one thing, which is that parents who have lived through the tragedy of an abduction don't care what a blog or site about the tragedy says!!! Only finding the child is important, whatever people think or bloggers write, no?

The truth...nothing but the truth. As we told you, we are going to open up all the details of the case file for you. The comments by the police, the interviews of witnesses and suspects, the facts, the places, the times, the dates etc. Thus, throughout these articles you will see that the so-called new leads are not new and that it's all there in the case file. To keep up and to avoid misunderstanding, bear in mind that the investigators initially followed the theory of abduction before the investigation took a different direction.

Volume 1 - cover sheet.

The first page of the report reveals nothing special. It is the traditional cover sheet for all police reports. The classification of the offence is found here: Abduction. The date of the events is here, 03/05/07, the file number, as well as the squad that intervened, the 4th squad. Finally, in addition to the names of the inspectors, there is a brief run-down of the facts.

Disappearance of a minor. The Praia GNR patrol were informed of the disappearance of a child, sex female, nationality English. According to GNR officers the call was made at 22.40 and the little girl disappeared from a ground floor apartment at the Ocean Club where a family with children was staying. The layout of the apartment comprises two bedrooms, a kitchen, a lounge and a bathroom. The apartment has easy public access. During dinner, the couple visited the children's bedroom several times. During one of these visits, the mother noticed that her daughter wasn't there and raised the alarm in order to find her. Faced with these facts and by higher decision, the PJ's duty team was advised, and they immediately started on various avenues of research.

Cliquez pour agrandir l'imageVolume 1 - Page 2

This is the start of the police report itself. The PJ will identify the parents and give a brief outline of the evening's course of events.

The first part of the document clearly identifies the parents, giving their full names, their dates of birth, their passport numbers, their telephone numbers, as well as their exact address. You will understand that these records cannot be published. No one needs to know the parents' telephone number.

The report continues: The missing minor is identified as Madeleine Beth McCann, born 12/05/2003. In addition to the missing minor, the couple have two other children, twins aged two years. The two children were also in the bedroom where the missing minor, Madeleine, was sleeping. In our conversation with Mr Gerald Patrick McCann, it was possible to establish that: The family had been at the Ocean Club since April 28th 2007 for a week. From 29/04/2007, they began to dine ( he and his wife) at an Ocean Club restaurant while their children remained a few metres from the restaurant, in their bedroom. They had the habit of dining in the said restaurant with friends, three couples. On the date of the events, they got up at 07h30 in the morning and had breakfast in the apartment.

09.00: They left the apartment and left their children at the Ocean Cub crèche where the Ocean Club staff looked after the children until 12.30.

After lunch, towards 14.40, they again placed the children in the said crèche, where they stayed until around 17.00.

Towards 17.30, the parents bathed the children, gave them something to eat and towards 19.30 the three children were put to bed in the same bedroom of the apartment.

At 20.30 the couple headed for the restaurant.

Towards 21.05/21.15 GERALD (the father) went to see the children in their bedroom. He saw the door half-open. He found that strange. He had the idea that he had closed it properly. Nevertheless, he went in and he saw the three children. The shutters were closed.

At 21.20, JANE, a friend, passed close to the apartment, at the side of the building and saw a person with a child in his arms going down the main road. However, she did not recognise this person, or the child. She could only say that the man must have been between 30 and 40 years old and that he had dark hair and light-coloured trousers.

At 21.30, a friend, MAT, only went to the rear of the apartment towards the lounge window. He didn't go in and only saw the twins asleep. He did not notice anything strange.

At 22.00, KATE, the mother, was confronted with the disappearance of MADELEINE BETH MCCANN. She noticed that the window, as well as the shutters, was wide open.

Then, the report, via the Ocean Club's director, identifies the employees on duty. The report also states that the police have a copy of the register of comings and goings of children at the crèche on 03/05/07. The report states that:

It is advisable to report that before the arrival of the police patrol, various people were already in the apartment. People who could have contaminated that space. It is also to be noted that the GNR officers carried out various searches around the apartment in order to locate any missing person. However, these searches were fruitless. A photographic report was done. The parents gave a photo of the minor: MADELEINE BETH MCCANN.

End of part one. The photo of Madeleine given by the parents is intended to show the little girl and to allow clear identification. The photo used is shown below.

Pink10

Blogger's note: this seems like an odd photo of Madeleine for the McCanns to give the police on the evening of her disappearance. The child in this photo looks nothing like the one in the, "last photo," which was produced for the police 23 days later, the one of Madeleine with Gerry and Amelie by the swimming pool. I seriously doubt that Madeleine could have been identified from that photo.

Enfants Kidnappés 6/08/08: the British media publish everything and anything on the Madeleine McCann case.

http://www.kidnapping.be/maddie/maddie.html

6/08/08

Everything and anything. What next? A Sunday newspaper magazine dedicating its regular feature to what's in the McCanns' fridge?

Everything and anything!

Since the process has been made public and journalists have had access to the case file, on DVD, the media has gone mad and don't know anymore what to invent to attract attention. In a frenzy of publication, wishing, at all costs, to publish before their neighbours, the British press in its entirety, has sunk to a ridiculous level. The idea is to publish everything and anything but faster than their neighbour. As soon as they have a photo, they publish it without considering the consequences for the families of the people photographed. They add two or three extracts from the report accompanying the photo and there you have it. But it is total disinformation!! For a start, we note that photos included in the case file are categorically banned from publication!!!

On the other hand, that same press makes a big deal of a story about a little girl who looks like Madeleine, seen in a service station, claiming that it was not investigated. Wrong! If they took the trouble to be objective and wanted to honestly inform people, they would publish the whole document, stressing that the lead was followed up and eliminated. They would publish the fact that the PJ suggested that Kate came with them to check if it was Maddie but that she responded, and I quote from the case file, that she, "had other things to do," which really staggered the investigators! That is also in the report, gentlemen of the British press! You only have to read on a few lines! Today, with an obvious interest in manipulating public opinion, the tabloids are talking about the s0-called, "unexplored," Dutch sighting. Clarence Mitchell, the parents' spokesperson, stated: "It is shocking and painful, reading this report, not knowing if it was Madeleine or not."

But it is mentioned in the report. The lead was followed up. The authorities did what was necessary. And Mr Mitchell has the case file, so what is he playing at? Also, Kate said that Madeleine did not like being called Maddie and each time she would say that she wasn't called Maddie but Madeleine. We are entitled to ask why Mr Mitchell seeks to manipulate public opinion? Why is it so vital to pretend not to know or to distort the truth? We could also ask questions about the intellectual integrity of certain journalists, intentionally and knowingly disinforming their readers?

In reality, there's nothing new. Nothing that hasn't been talked about in the world's press in recent months. All of these so-called new leads, said not to have been followed up, have been. They have all been studied. The press is only adding another layer to what is already very well known by everyone. Intellectual integrity is in publishing an article without hiding certain details. The truth is in publishing the information such as it is even if it is not pleasant. In this case, many of the details put a flea in the ear of the investigators, very quickly making the parents suspects in the eyes of the PJ. All these details placed end to end form a trail, this trail essentially leading the investigators to one or several pieces of evidence or to a, "dead end." If we regularly set out the details that led the PJ to suspect the parents, it is with the aim of explaining to you why the parents were suspected. In any case, these details are not evidence, just suspicions, strong assumptions.

It is also establishing a trail. The MP stated that there was no evidence to implicate the parents in Madeleine's disappearance. The MP is right! There is no evidence that is sufficiently solid to support an indictment. Only suspicions remain. Thus, it was completely logical for the parents' status to be lifted, the MP making clear that he believed that Madeleine was dead, but that he did not have evidence of the parents' involvement. Only the acts of child abandonment or neglect could have been maintained but the MP decided to abandon these charges. But don't forget that the investigation is neither over, nor abandoned, nor closed, nor shelved, contrary to what a certain press says. The investigation goes on and will not be closed until Madeleine, alive or not, is found. Also, although the parents are no longer, "arguidos," they have not been exonerated or cleared of anything. The PJ's conviction about the parents has not changed.

The above is translated from an original article on the Enfants Kidnappés web site.

SOS Madeleine McCann: Eddie is behind the discovery of the bodies of five children.

http://sosmaddie.dhblogs.be/

2/08/08

The bodies of at least five children have been found at the former English children's home on the island of Jersey, where Eddie the sniffer dog, previously used in the Madeleine case, indicated the presence of the bodies.

The former children's home, situated at Haut da la Garenne, has been under investigation since 2006, after several disclosures of sexual abuse.

According to Lenny Harper, Jersey's police chief, the bodies of five children, aged from four ro eleven, were burned and hidden between the late sixties and early seventies. Until now, the British police have also discovered 65 milk teeth and at least a hundred bone fragments, some cut and burnt.

Eddie, capable of sniffing the slightest cadaver odour, after having detected signs in Praia da Luz that Madeleine McCann's body had been there, demonstrated his skills by detecting the presence of human remains at the former children's home, where he indicated at least six places, inside the building, where the British police then made the discovery.

In spite of the discoveries, the British police consider that there is not enough evidence to proceed with a murder investigation, which shocks several witnesses who are accusing the authorities of not wanting to open Pandora's box: "I am astonished that the evidence is apparently so inconclusive," states a specialist in forensics, stressing that, "it seems strange that we have a large number of bones, but it is announced that there will not be a murder investigation."

Eddie in the McCann case.

After being successful in more than 200 criminal investigations, Eddie arrived in Portugal on July 30th 2007 to help the Portuguese and British authroities with the investigation into Madeleine McCann's disappearance.

Eddie, the Springer Spaniel of the British police, is skilled at detecting murder victims. (EVRD) He looks for and locates human remains and bodily fluids. He is capable of indicating the presence of a body in a place, even if the body is no longer there. Eddie also indicates contamination by the odour of a body.

  • le sol de la chambre de Kate et Gerry McCann ;
  • derrière le sofa bleu qui se trouve à côté de la fenêtre du 5A ;
  • balcon de la chambre des McCann ;
In the case of Madeleine McCann's disappearance, Eddie, used in conjunction with Keela, indicated the cadaver odour in several places, all directly connected to the parents of the young British girl.

  • The floor of Kate and Gerry McCann's bedroom.
  • Behind the blue sofa beside the window of 5A
  • On the balcony of the McCanns' bedroom.

According to the investigation file, before Madeleine's disappearance, no death had taken place inside apartment 5A, where the McCanns stayed during their holiday in Praia da Luz. Eddie was also used to inspect apartments 5B,5D and 5H at the Ocean Club, but he did not alert on anything there.

In the rented villa which Kate and Gerry McCann occupied after their departure from the Ocean Club, Eddie indicated the cadaver odour on Cuddle Cat (the pink soft toy belonging to Madeleine), and on two items of Kate's clothing. Eddie also indicated several places in the car rented by the mcCanns: on the key and in the boot of the Renault Scenic.

Similar examinations were carried out, without success, at Robert Murat's house, on his clothes and on his cars. Eddie only found the cadaver odour in places and on objects directly linked to Kate and Gerry McCann, Madeleine's parents.

SOS Madeleine McCann: Robert Murat, "categorically," manipulated in the McCann case.

SOS Madeleine McCann 13/07/08

The Portuguese investigators of the PJ did not happen upon Robert Murat by accident. They were led there by a well-oiled British, "machine," where the finger was pointed at the man by his compatriots with an objective which, the inspectors still ended up thwarting: he was the bait, in whose direction the police and the media were supposed to be looking while the real action was elsewhere.

It is now certain that Robert Murat is more victim than guilty party. That, at least is the conclusion arrived at by the PJ after the first interrogations of the British man, however lacking in explanations about certain facts which have not ceased to intrigue the inspectors in charge of the investigations.

A suivre...

After 14 months the British man retains the memory of the day he was taken by the inspectors to the PJ's offices in Portimao, where he was interrogated for many hours in the presence of liaison officers from the British police, without, however, receiving the least help from his consul, Bill Henderson, or the services of the consulate, who were busy with Kate and Gerry McCann, parents of Madeleine, the little three year-old girl whom the British media, in particular The Mirror, would say resembled his own daughter. Even his ambassador, John Buck, a strong presence in the Algarve in the days following Madeleine's disappearance, was going to ignore him for the duration of the investigation, at least concerning any possible help, which his mother would be forced to look for in her home country and from a Portuguese lawyer, Me Francisco Pagarete.

To be continued.
