The period of secrecy of justice in the enquiry into Madeleine McCann's disappearance is officially extended for three months. According to a source at the Public Ministry, the new period starts from next Thursday, May 15th, the day on which the enquiry file may have become accessible.

Madeleine McCann disappeared on May 3rd 2007 and the enquiry continues, in the hands of the Department of Criminal Investigation (DIC) of the PJ at Portimao, where the inspectors are ready to move forward with new activities.

The PJ are still waiting for the return to Portugal of Kate and Gerry McCann, parents of the little girl and arguidos in the enquiry. According to their spokesperson, the couple refuse to undertake the journey while their status as arguidos does not change. According to Clarence Mitchell, Kate and Gerry do not see the usefulness of this action, a year after the disappearance.

The other arguido, the British man Robert Murat, is still in Praia da Luz where he says he is available to help the police with any activity which could help to solve the mystery.
