Madeleine McCann: Is this proof that the "last photo" is a fake?

Very interesting! I have always tended towards the theory that Madeleine was the one who had been inserted into the photograph, because in the photo of her sitting by herself Gerry's elbow is missing! It had not occurred to me that maybe all three had been inserted - or maybe Madeleine and Gerry inserted into a photo of Amelie.

Whichever way it happened I believe it has been photo-shopped. As to when and why? -

WHEN - when Gerry went home to fetch the pillowcase? Because why would it not have been made public before that event if it had been in somebody's camera? Not forgetting that Gerry's wallet was supposedly stolen on that trip and later returned ... possibly a ploy should the photo-shopping be noticed?

WHY - to show that Madeleine was alive and well at lunch-time on 3rd May 2007.

P.S. Which I don't believe she was.

The theory is right, but he sees the sun coming from above the people in it, wereas I see the sun coming from the right hand corner, thus the shadows, And their shapes are explained, as well as the "missing" shadow from Gerry's arm is logical. I think the date-stamp was altered on the picture, maybe quite simple by taking picture from a picture. So I agree there is something wrong, but not photoshopping. Lots of theories to be read on "the last photo" on the jill havern forum.

Simple fact is it was raining and overcast on the morning. Dianne Webster said her tennis lessons was cancelled that morning and the day was chilly. - pete

Wasn't Gerry supposed to be on the tennis court virtually all day? But he had chance to go back to the flat, get changed into his pool casuals, appear in the photo, dash back, get changed into his tennis gear & carry on with his important tennis lessons.

BTW, photo was taken at 2-29pm local time which on 3 May 2007 was solar noon - the precise time when the sun was highest in the sky. What chance that? Plus as the other comments say, the weather wasn't too clever on that day, quite cool for May in the Algarve too.
